FAQ

Things students ask.

What art supplies do I need to bring?

Starter supplies (pencils, paper, eraser, basic watercolour) are provided for your first class. Once enrolled, your teacher will share a simple starter kit list — usually under ₹1,500 for everything you need for the first three months.

Do you prepare students for design school entrance exams?

Yes. We've coached students into NID, NIFT, Srishti, MIT-ID and Pearl, with focused portfolio prep, situation drawing, and creative ability test (CAT) practice.

Is this only for kids?

Not at all — adult beginners are some of our most rewarding students. We have dedicated adult batches in evenings and weekends.

Will my child be forced to draw 'realistically'?

No. We teach observational skills because they unlock everything else — but personal style, abstraction and illustration are encouraged throughout.

Are there exhibitions?

Yes — twice-yearly student exhibitions at the GADD9 studio, plus occasional participation in city-wide youth art shows in Kochi.

The Story

Where Drawing & Art comes from — and where it lives now.

Drawing & Art at GADD9 is built on a simple truth: drawing is a way of seeing, not a talent you either have or don't. The class is designed so that anyone — child, teenager, working adult, complete beginner — can train their eye, their hand and their composition instincts in a structured, joyful way.

Drawing is the oldest surviving human art form. The charcoal and ochre drawings in the Chauvet Cave (France) are more than 30,000 years old; India's own rock-shelter drawings at Bhimbetka reach back tens of thousands of years. Drawing has been humanity's first tool for making the invisible visible.
