FAQ

Things students ask.

Do I need to bring my own costume?

Not for your first trial — we'll provide what you need. Once you enrol, we'll recommend a starter kit for Fusion Kathak that suits your level and budget.

How long until I can perform a full Fusion Kathak piece?

Most beginners perform their first short choreography within 8–12 weeks of consistent practice.

Can I switch teachers if it isn't a fit?

Absolutely. The teacher-student match matters more than anything else — just tell us and we'll re-match, no awkwardness.

Is there a recital?

Yes — we host an annual GADD9 showcase plus quarterly in-house performances. Participation is encouraged but never forced.

What makes Fusion Kathak at GADD9 different?

Personalised pacing, a teacher matched to your goals, and a community of fellow students who genuinely cheer you on. We measure success in how often you actually practise.

The Story

Where Fusion Kathak comes from — and where it lives now.

Tatkar with a modern pulse. Chakkars, tatkar and traditional grammar reimagined with contemporary choreography.

Kathak grew out of the storytelling (kathaka) tradition of north Indian temple bards, and was elevated to a courtly art form under the patronage of the Mughal courts, blending Hindu and Persian aesthetics. The modern gharanas — Lucknow, Jaipur and Banaras — codified the form in the 19th and 20th centuries.
