FAQ

Things students ask.

Do I need to bring my own costume?

Not for your first trial — we'll provide what you need. Once you enrol, we'll recommend a starter kit for Zumba that suits your level and budget.

How long until I can perform a full Zumba piece?

Most beginners perform their first short choreography within 8–12 weeks of consistent practice.

Can I switch teachers if it isn't a fit?

Absolutely. The teacher-student match matters more than anything else — just tell us and we'll re-match, no awkwardness.

Is there a recital?

Yes — we host an annual GADD9 showcase plus quarterly in-house performances. Participation is encouraged but never forced.

What makes Zumba at GADD9 different?

Personalised pacing, a teacher matched to your goals, and a community of fellow students who genuinely cheer you on. We measure success in how often you actually practise.

The Story

Where Zumba comes from — and where it lives now.

Sweat dressed as a party. Latin rhythms, full-body workout, all fitness levels — leave grinning, repeat tomorrow.

Zumba was invented almost by accident in 1990s Cali, Colombia, when the fitness instructor Alberto 'Beto' Pérez forgot his usual aerobics tape and improvised a class using the Latin music he had in his car. The mixture of merengue, salsa, cumbia and reggaeton with fitness routines was an immediate hit.
