FAQ

Things students ask.

Do I need to bring my own instrument?

Not for your first trial — we'll provide what you need. Once you enrol, we'll recommend a starter kit for Veena that suits your level and budget.

How long until I can perform a full Veena piece?

Most beginners perform their first short song within 8–12 weeks of consistent practice.

Can I switch teachers if it isn't a fit?

Absolutely. The teacher-student match matters more than anything else — just tell us and we'll re-match, no awkwardness.

Is there a recital?

Yes — we host an annual GADD9 showcase plus quarterly in-house performances. Participation is encouraged but never forced.

What makes Veena at GADD9 different?

Personalised pacing, a teacher matched to your goals, and a community of fellow students who genuinely cheer you on. We measure success in how often you actually practise.

The Story

Where Veena comes from — and where it lives now.

The temple of Carnatic strings. Meettu, gamaka and devotional repertoire on the saraswati veena — graceful and grounded.

The veena is one of the oldest string instruments in the world, mentioned in the Vedas and depicted in temple sculptures across South India. The modern Saraswati Veena, associated with the goddess of learning, was standardised in Thanjavur during the reign of Raghunatha Nayak in the 17th century.
